Aerospace Manufacturer Opens New $26 Million Production Facility in Morgantown Industrial Park

Aerospace Composites Solutions’ (ACS) has cut the ribbon on its new flagship facility in the Morgantown Industrial Park.

First announced in 2023, the $26 million investment marks the first project in the Morgantown Industrial Park.

Boosting Aircraft Performance and Capabilities

The new facility, strategically located off Interstate 165, will serve as ACS’s primary hub for production, innovation, and workforce development.

Operations at the new 150,000-square-foot facility began in late March 2025.

“This grand opening is more than a ribbon-cutting—it’s a recommitment to American aerospace manufacturing excellence and to Morgantown’s role in that future,” said Matt Shieman, President of Aerospace Composites Solutions. “This facility embodies our vision for scalable, next-generation composites manufacturing that meets the evolving needs of defense, aviation and global aerial firefighting.”

The expansion deepens the company’s investment in Morgantown, generating an economic impact that is expected to exceed $250 million over the next decade and will increase annual spending in the community by more than $3 million.

The facility was constructed on Lot 1 of the Morgantown Industrial Park, which is a certified Build-Ready site.

The project marks a significant collaboration between the City of Morgantown, Butler County, and the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce.

“We continue to see growth in our manufacturing and aerospace industries, providing incredible job opportunities for communities across the commonwealth,” said Governor Beshear. “Aerospace Composites Solutions is a company that has invested in the Butler County community for over a decade. I am thrilled to be here today to celebrate their next step as a company and look forward to their continued success and growth here in Kentucky.”

In addition to strengthening South Central Kentucky’s position in the global aerospace supply chain, the new facility will create 72 new jobs.

“We are proud to celebrate this moment with ACS—a company that continues to invest in our people, our economy, and our future,” said Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps. “Growth begins with our existing industries, but this new facility is a symbol of what’s possible when vision, partnership, and community come together.”

“ACS’s grand opening is a powerful example of how strategic partnerships can create real opportunities for our residents,” said Butler County Judge Executive Tim Flener. “This facility brings high-quality jobs to Butler County and reinforces that Morgantown is open for innovation, investment, and long-term growth.”

Advancing Aerospace Manufacturing in Kentucky

The facility will also support ACS’s groundbreaking partnership with Recoil Aerospace, Inc., through which the companies are engineering next-generation aerial fire-fighting equipment and further innovations that are poised to transform global wildfire response capabilities.

“We are happy to be celebrating the grand opening of the new Aerospace Composites Solutions manufacturing facility and appreciate the support from all of those who came to celebrate with us,” said Bill Smrtic, Founding Partner, Aerospace Composites Solutions. “We see our investment in this new facility as an investment in the future of the local and regional community and is a symbol of commitment to the ACS vision of growing local talent and making global impact. We look forward to many successful years to come right here in Morgantown.”

“The success we’re celebrating today is exactly why we take a regional approach to economic development. When one of our communities wins, we all win. ACS’s growth in Morgantown strengthens the aerospace and defense capabilities of the entire South Central Kentucky region.” said Ron Bunch, President, Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce.

Year to date, the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce has announced one economic development project in South Central Kentucky, totaling $13.2 million in capital investment and creating 20 new jobs in the region.
