Big Sandy Community & Technical College Now Offering Paramedic Training Program

Big Sandy Community & Technical College (BSCTC) is preparing to launch a Paramedic Training Program this fall.

The program, which builds upon the existing Emergency Medical Services curriculum, will provide hybrid paramedic classes, with sessions conducted once a week.

“We are thrilled to expand our offerings to include paramedic training, further strengthening the vital services we provide to our community,” said Chris Gilley, BSCTC EMS Program Coordinator/Instructor.

Mandatory informational sessions for admission into the Paramedic Training Program will be announced soon, with the program projected to begin in August.

Students are required to hold current unrestricted registration with the National Registry EMT as an EMT to be eligible for the program.

Individuals seeking initial certification as an EMT must be 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or GED.

“This has been a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to offer affordable and relevant training programs that meet the needs of our communities,” said Dr. Denise King, Chief Academic Officer and Provost of BSCTC.
