City and County Leaders to Break Ground on Paducah Sports Park

City and County leaders are set to break ground on the Paducah Sports Park on Monday ,July 22 at 9 a.m.

The Paducah Sports Park will provide the region with a state-of-the-art facility for community recreation and tournament play on its baseball/softball diamonds and multi-purpose long fields.

Vibrant Hub For Sports

Located at the former Bluegrass Downs site, Paducah Sports Park is transforming the former horse racing venue into a premier sports complex that will serve as a vibrant hub for athletes, families, and sports enthusiasts.

The Paducah Sports Park is a collaborative project among the McCracken County Sports Tourism Commission, McCracken County, and the City of Paducah that will allow the Paducah-McCracken County area become a regional destination for athletic tournaments.

The Paducah Sports Park’s design includes five rectangular fields and four diamond-shaped fields that can be configured in a variety of ways and sizes.

These multi-use, synthetic turf fields can incorporate soccer, baseball, softball, rugby, or football.

Other design features include a memorial complex to Dr. Stuart Nelson, shelter and restroom facilities, concession facilities, picnic and playground areas, and a significant amount of parking.

With an expectation of holding 35 to 40 tournaments per year, the McCracken County Sports Tourism Commission estimates that the facility could generate a local economic impact of approximately $130 million in its first five years of use.

A conceptual video showcasing renderings of the project can be seen here.

The facility is expected to open in fall 2025.
