In August, Whiskey Thief Distilling Company announced plans to open a second location in the NuLu neighborhood of Louisville.
The space, which was formerly Flying Axes, is set to open to the community on October 11 and Kentucky Business got a sneak peek inside the facility.
Inside The Space
Located at 610 Nanny Goat Strut, Whiskey Thief NuLu offers visitors the opportunity to taste a variety of bourbons and rye whiskeys straight-from-the-barrel and use a whiskey thief to fill their own bottle.
Inside the space Whiskey Thief NuLu offers guests a little of everything.
To start, the cocktail bar is beautiful and serves up a variety of drink options including Whiskey Thief’s famous bourbon sloshie, a classic old fashioned, a cocktail called Pure Kentucky that features Ale-8 and, of course, straight bourbon pours.
For those who shy away from bourbon, the cocktail menu features gin and the option to substitute vodka.

Whiskey Thief NuLu has a capacity of more than 200 people and features plenty of indoor and outdoor seating areas inviting guests to grab a drink and stay for a while.
Walk-ins will be welcomed in Louisville just as they are in Franklin County.
The NuLu location also features a private event space and retail area for shopping.

As the name alludes, Whiskey Thief NuLu will offer a straight-from-the-barrel, hands-on tasting and thieving experience.
Guests will have the choice to thieve from five barrels – typically four bourbons and one rye whiskey – that are always changing.

The NuLu location is managed by Shane Hockersmith, who is a former employee of the previous tenant Flying Axes.
Whiskey Thief NuLu is open Monday-Thursday 11am-7pm, Friday and Saturday 11am-11pm and Sunday noon-8pm.
