Northern Kentucky University is celebrating its Founders’ Day by challenging alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and community members to give back to their favorite place or cause on campus.
It’s all part of NKU’s 1,968 Minutes of Giving Program, a celebration of the university’s 56th birthday.
How It Works
Inspired by the year NKU was founded (1968), the 1,968 Minutes of Giving Program begins at 8:00 a.m. on March 13 and runs through 4:48 p.m. on March 14.
The day of celebration calls on alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and community members to donate to their favorite department, scholarship fund, Norse team or student-support initiative, and features a series of matches and challenges that maximize the impact of each donation.
“This is the perfect way to honor our founders and celebrate how far NKU has come as a university,” said NKU President Dr. Cady Short-Thompson. “Together, we can honor the vision of our founders and help NKU move towards an even brighter future for generations to come.”
Make An Impact
Those who donate could win some special prizes, including dinner with NKU’s president Cady Short-Thompson or 5-night condo stay in Fort Myers, Florida.
Donors who make a gift of any amount will be entered to win two roundtrip tickets on Delta Air Lines to anywhere in the continental United States.
Additionally, all donations of $68 or more will receive an exclusive student-designed T-shirt (one shirt per donor).
“This year’s theme allows us even more time to celebrate all things NKU,” said Amy Wylie, Senior Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving. “It is a day our Norse pride really shines. It’s exciting to see the impact our Norse community continues to have on our students’ success when we come together.”
How To Donate
This is the fourth year NKU has celebrated Founders’ Day.
Last year, the program saw more than 950 donors and raised $361,526 benefiting academic programs, scholarships, student support services and student-life experiences.
