MMY Group, a manufacturer of modular housing units based in the United Kingdom, is opening its first U.S. location in Louisville.
The company will be moving into an existing 100,000-square-foot industrial building in the Parkland neighborhood.
The manufacturer will deliver modular homes in 16 weeks, five times faster than traditional construction, and estimates the facility will produce up to 500 housing units per year with potential for future growth.
“From delivering new housing solutions to creating good-paying jobs with benefits like childcare, MMY is making a game-changing investment in West Louisville that will position our city to lead,” said Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg. “West Louisville will now be the national epicenter of modular housing construction, and I am so grateful to MMY leaders for their commitment to Louisville, our people and our future.”
Louisville Metro Government awarded MMY US a $500,000 grant to support the project.
Since accepting bookings six months ago, MMY US has secured a full production pipeline with $40 million in orders, supporting affordable housing and market-rate projects. MMY US’s production capacities are fully booked until the end of the year, and the company is now accepting reservations for 2025.
“Congratulations to MMY US and to the West Louisville community for adding yet another quality employer for Kentucky’s talented workforce,” said Governor Andy Beshear. “The commonwealth continues to attract companies that are creating great jobs and providing valuable resources for our residents, and MMY US is a prime example of that. I’m happy to welcome MMY US to the commonwealth and look forward to a long, successful partnership here.”
The new company will create 73 full-time jobs with an average wage of $30 per hour and a minimum of $23 per hour – both before benefits.
“The opening of this advanced modular manufacturing facility will signify a major acceleration in Kentucky’s construction industry and will position Kentucky as one of the world’s most technologically advanced players in modern methods of construction,” said MMY US CEO Robin Bartram-Brown. “At MMY US, we believe in fair compensation for hard work, delivering an average wage of $30/hour to ensure our staff earns a decent living wage. Diverse and inclusive teams lead to superior decision-making, which benefits everyone. At MMY US, we are dedicated to fostering a workplace that is both diverse and equitable, ensuring our workforce mirrors the communities we are a part of.”
MMY US has committed to hiring the majority of its workforce from Louisville, with preference given to applicants from the nine neighborhoods of West Louisville and hiring a majority of low-income to moderate-income individuals. Additionally, the company will provide onsite child care for working parents.
MMY US is part of modular strategy consultancy MMY Global, which has pioneered modular construction globally since 2013.
